Description:
After World War II, the Studite Fathers were invited by the Benedictine monastic order in Belgium to form one of the world's only dual-rite monasteries. The Studite order still wanted its own monastery, so Bishop Isidore Borecky in Toronto, directed the order to Woodstock in 1952. The Studite Fathers bought a 39 ha (97 acres) farm, which they lived on until 1964. The congregation built a non-profit senior citizens apartment building as a gift of thanks to the community.
